In addition to our involvement in local associations and chambers of commerce, McHugh Insurance Group established the MIG Charitable Fund in 2024. The MIG Charitable Fund was founded in an effort to give back to the community where our business is located and where our clients live and work. When local businesses trust us to protect what they’ve built, we want that choice to create something good – beyond insurance. The MIG Charitable Fund is our way of giving back as we grow together.

How it Works

Each year, McHugh Insurance Group donates $25 for every new policy written in the last year as well as $100 for each referral we received. At the end of the year, the McHugh family personally matches every dollar contributed through our charitable fund, doubling the impact of our donations to local charities and nonprofits.

Meet The Owner

Hunter McHugh is the Founder and Principal of McHugh Insurance Group. Hunter began his career in the insurance industry immediately after graduating from Monmouth University as a direct-writer for a national commercial insurance company. After 7 years of experience in sales and multiple management roles, Hunter began to notice how much of a disservice the overall insurance industry was doing to small businesses. Having grown up in a small, family-owned construction business, Hunter knew how much of an impact insurance and risk management can have on a business – especially when done wrong.

Having grown up in Delaware, Hunter decided to move back home in 2022 and open McHugh Insurance Group with the intention of establishing a New Generation in Insurance. Hunter’s vision for MIG was to give businesses the personalized service, value, and trust they deserve in an insurance agency at a time when most agencies treat their clients like a number.

Hunter now resides in Wilmington, Delaware with his wife, Laura and his two daughters. In addition to running McHugh Insurance Group, Hunter serves on the Board of Directors for the Insurance Agents & Brokers Association (IA&B), is on the Small Business Alliance through the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce, and serves on multiple committees through local trade associations.

Hunter is a Certified Construction Risk Professional and was awarded the Young Agent of the Year award in 2025 by the Insurance Agents & Brokers Association (IA&B).
